VISION & MISSION

The aims and objectives of the Irrigation Department are mainly :

  • To increase Agricultural production of the State by facilitating introducing high yielding variety crops.

  • To increase Irrigation intensity practicing multiple croppings.

  • Domestic and industrial water supply and navigation.

  • Implementation of Irrigation schemes with supply network.

  • Providing Irrigation water to crop field for the use of farmers.

  • Providing employment opportunity to citizen at various level as regular employee and/ on contractual basis.
  • Providing the facility for transportation by utilizing the approach road and canal embankment of Irrigation structures

  • Providing scope for production of electric power by constructing mini hydel projects in the Irrigation canal.

  • Providing Low Intensity flood mitigation measures.

  • Checking soil erosion of river bank at the upstream and downstream of Headwork structures of Irrigation schemes.

  • Protective afforestation along canal embankments.

  • Collection of Service Charge from the beneficiaries.

  • Providing water for maintenance of fisheries.
